Mission Statement

Our program aims to help youth benefit from team sports in a structured environment, teaching values, skills, and knowledge that will last a lifetime, while emphasizing academic success. Pop Warner focuses on introducing youth athletes to the fundamentals of football, cheerleading, and dance, while promoting sportsmanship, scholarship, and physical fitness.

ACADEMICS MATTER

Pop Warner is the only national youth sports organization that requires its participants to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play, Cheerleaders must maintain a minimum “C” average during the school year. Each year, DRPW’s top academic scholars are eligible to apply to the Pop Warner Little Scholars program which offers academic scholarships to eligible applicants.

Rules and Regulations are as follows but not limited to:

  • All rostered staff, cheerleaders and families must consistently promote team spirit and model responsible, respectful behavior while on the practice/game field and/or in uniform.

  • All disagreements with coaches or coaching philosophy will not be addressed on the practice or game field. All issues will be discussed in private.

  • Zero-Tolerance for Bullying of any sort, nature or kind. Offenses may result to immediate dismissal from program.

  • Cheerleaders cannot cheer for a competitive All-Star or High School Cheer team during Pop Warner season.

2 MAIN COMPONENTS OF DRPW CHEER PROGRAM (All 5-13 Age Based Divisions)

Both components require 110% commitment and dedication. Standing in front of a full stadium or on stage in front of an audience is no easy feat. From performing for a crowd, to serving as ambassadors at community events, to working a skill over and over to get it right, cheerleaders build confidence and self-esteem that will carry them through life.

  1. Sideline Cheer
Involves cheerleaders cheering on the football teams during games, leading chants and cheers for the players and fans, and helping to create a lively and supportive atmosphere.

  2. Competitive Cheer See Competition Acknowledgement
Involves cheerleaders performing a choreographed routine that showcases stunting skills, tumbling, jumps, and dance. These routines are then scored against other cheer squads in cheer-specific competitions. Competitions support personal development that empowers youth to learn lifelong character skills such as perseverance and dedication.

Parent Involvement

Del Rancho Pop Warner Board of Directors, all Head, Assistant, and Youth Demo Coaching Staff are 100% community-based volunteers. Our volunteering philosophy emphasizes all hands-on deck is needed and 100% parent participation effort is requested to help foster our commitment of community building. Parent and family involvement is one of the most important components to maintain a successful youth program.
